Monday Prayers: 16th August

For many, across this planet God gave us to live on and care for, life has begun to get better.

The storm of COVID starting to still, unrest coming to an end, political stability at long last. For this of course we give our thanks to God and to the people he has worked through to help make thinks better.

We are however part of a GLOBAL family and as such we have to recognise that our neighbours, on this blue-green marble suspended in a sunbeam adrift in the sea of space, are in trouble.

So this morning we offer our prayers, we offer our tears and we offer our help in the name of Jesus.

Let us pray.

Loving God, as we think of our sisters and brothers struggling across this world, our prayers bubble up, stinging our eyes and falling as tears on the parched Earth. We pledge ourselves to your service and to their aid.

Loving God, as we hear of our sisters and brothers in Afghanistan, knowing that their freedoms are rapidly retreating as the Taliban advance. Our tears fall as our prayers rise, come to their aid we pray and empower us to help in whichever way we can.

Loving God, as we hear of our sisters and brothers in Haiti, once again hit by earthquake with over a thousand dead and more injured and homeless.  Our tears fall as our prayers rise, come to their aid we pray and empower us to help in whichever way we can.

Loving God, as we hear of our sisters and brothers in Japan, with over two million needing to seek shelter from the heavy rain and floods.  Our tears fall as our prayers rise, come to their aid we pray and empower us to help in whichever way we can.

Loving God, as we hear of our sisters and brothers across the world, where COVID cases are rising and the numbers dying are still increasing, with vaccines and precautions not making enough headway.  Our tears fall as our prayers rise, come to their aid we pray and empower us to help in whichever way we can.

Loving God, as we hear of our sisters and brothers worldwide being effected by catastrophic climate change, with wildfire and floods, hurricanes and unbearable heat.  Our tears fall as our prayers rise, come to their aid we pray and empower us to help in whichever way we can.

As our tears fall as our prayers rise, come to their aid we pray and empower us to help in whichever way we can.

Lord in your mercy,

See our tears,

Hear our prayer,

Heal our world.

In Jesus name,

Amen
